It establishes responsibilities for chemical safety and addresses chemical inventories, hazard communication, Safety Data Sheets, container labeling, chemical procurement and receiving, storage and segregation, handling and transfer, laboratory ventilation, chemical fume hoods, personal protective equipment, and chemical waste.
The program provides additional guidance for particularly hazardous substances, including select carcinogens, reproductive toxins, and substances with high acute toxicity, as well as circumstances that may require designated areas, additional containment, exposure monitoring, medical consultation, or other enhanced controls. Chemical compatibility, spill response, emergency equipment, employee exposures, housekeeping, inspections, and chemical hygiene training are also addressed.
Provided in editable Microsoft Word format, the program can be customized for the chemicals, laboratory processes, facilities, and exposure hazards present in your workplace and incorporated into a Laboratory Safety Manual or used as a standalone chemical safety program.
